Download: Care: Exegetical Study
Care is one of the ways Christ’s love becomes visible in everyday life. It takes shape when we notice someone who is struggling, listen patiently, offer practical help, and remain present when difficulties continue. These ordinary acts grow from a foundational truth: God cares for us, and He calls us to care for one another.
Throughout the New Testament, Jesus shows compassion that attends to the whole person. He teaches, feeds, comforts, heals, and draws near to those others overlook. His example reshapes how we see people and understand our responsibilities toward them. Learning to care means allowing His love to influence our priorities, interrupt our assumptions, and guide our responses to the needs around us.
This section will bring together an in-depth biblical study and opportunities for class discussion to help us put these truths into practice. We will explore the motives behind our giving, the importance of prayer, the sharing of burdens, and the wisdom needed to offer encouragement and honest correction. We will also consider how to accompany people whose pain we cannot resolve and how to receive help when we need it ourselves.
As you study individually or participate with others, consider how Scripture can shape both your daily habits and your worldview. Begin with the people God has already placed in your life: someone at home, a coworker, a neighbor, or a fellow church member. A conversation, a meal, a visit, or a dependable offer of help can become a meaningful expression of love. Together, we can grow into a church community where care is a shared responsibility and a faithful response to the grace we have received in Christ.
